Oct 12 : ICYM, Naravi Unit conducted an attractive, creative and innovative Rosary making competition under the caption - "Aakarshik, Rachanathmak ani Avishkarik Konth Thayaar Karcho Spardho" to all the parishioners of Naravi on the occasion of the feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The competition was held in two categories for children and adults. The first category of children upto 7th standard had to submit their creative rosaries in 2D form by presenting it on a chart paper. Whereas, the second category of elders from 8th standard students and above had to submit their handmade rosaries in 3D form i.e. a normal rosary. The competition received a positive response with a total of 20 participants submitting their innovative handmade rosaries made out of wooden beads, cotton thread, palm leaves, decoratives and so on.
The competition was judged by Fr Simon D’souza, Parish Priest, St Antony's Church, Naravi; Fr Alwyn Serrao, Principal, St Antony's PU and Degree College, Naravi; Sr Supreetha, Headmistress, St Paul's English Medium School, Naravi and Sr Cristin Lobo, Bethany Convent, Naravi. This unique initiative of the ICYM and the innovative talents of the parishioners were highly appreciated by the judges and others.
The prizes to the winners were distributed by Principal Fr Alwyn Serrao on 2nd October, 2022 after the Holy Mass.
The results of the competition are as follows:
Children's Category (upto 7th standard):
First place: Venisha Menezes.
Second place: Aallin D'souza.
Adult's Category (from 8th standard and above):
First place: Anil Sunitha D'souza.
Second place: Flona Savitha D'souza and Anisha Rodrigues.
Overall, the competition was a great occasion to unveil the hidden artistic and creative talents of the parishioners. The entire competition was well guided by Fr Simon D'Souza, Parish Priest and ICYM Director, and Rohan Periera, ICYM Animator.
