Oct 3 : On September 29, 2024, after the first and second Eucharistic mass, Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Surathkal organized a street performance aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse. The performance took place in front of the Surathkal Church premises and attracted a diverse audience, including parishioners.
The performance began with an engaging opening led by MC, Ms Daina Dsouza, ICYM secretary. The MC introduced the event's purpose, emphasizing the importance of drug awareness and prevention.
The performance consisted of skits, dance routines, and songs, all crafted to convey powerful messages against drug abuse. Each segment was designed to engage the audience while providing insightful information on the risks associated with drug use. The youth participants showcased remarkable talent and enthusiasm, which captivated the audience and encouraged interaction.
Throughout the performance, they observed strong support and cooperation from the church parishioners. Their presence not only enhanced the atmosphere but also emphasized the community’s commitment to combating drug abuse.
Following the performance, the parish priest, also Director of ICYM Surathkal, Very. Rev. Fr. Austin Peter Peres addressed the audience. He commended the ICYM members for their hard work and creativity in spreading awareness about this critical issue. Rev. Fr. Austin Peter Peres shared his insights on the impact of drug abuse on families and the community, urging everyone to remain vigilant and supportive of those affected. His heartfelt speech resonated with many, reinforcing the importance of unity in tackling this challenge.
The street performance for anti-drug awareness was a successful initiative that effectively engaged the community and raised awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.
