March 10, 2025 : The ICYM Paldane unit organised a scrap collection drive during the weekends of October and the first week of December 2024. The primary goal of this initiative was to promote environmental sustainability, conserve natural resources, and reduce waste in the community. As part of the campaign, members went door-to-door to gather scrap materials, including old newspapers, bottles, metal waste, and other recyclable items.

After collecting a significant amount of scrap, the materials were sold to certified recycling facilities for proper processing and reuse. Youth volunteers from ICYM played an essential role in the success of the drive, contributing their time and efforts to ensure its smooth execution. The Scrap Collection Drive aimed to gather a wide range of recyclable materials, including paper, plastics, metals, and electronic waste. These materials were carefully sorted before being sent to certified recycling facilities. This approach ensured that the waste was processed in an environmentally responsible manner, contributing to the conservation of resources and the reduction of landfill waste. The drive followed an environmentally friendly approach by not only minimising waste but also discovering innovative ways to make the most of valuable resources.

The funds generated through the recycling process will be allocated to support ICYM’s ongoing social welfare projects and to fund future events organised by the ICYM Paldane unit. This initiative has made a positive impact on both the environment and the community, fostering a sense of responsibility and collective action among the youth. It also reflects ICYM’s commitment to sustainability and social welfare, ensuring that the contributions made by volunteers have long-lasting benefits.
