Nov 3 : The YSD-ICYM unit of Derebail Parish organized a Chess and Carrom tournament for the parishioners. This tournament was unique because it was an Open to All event that gave people of all age groups a chance to participate.
The tournament began with a short inaugural programme at 8.15AM. The Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Austin Peter Peres, Resident Priest Rev. Fr. Gerald Pinto, Vice-President of Parish Pastoral Committee Sheela D'Souza, Secretary of PPC Gaulbert, YSD Animator Lizzie Fernandes, YSD President Manish Pinto and Varado President Melston, Vice President Alrick D'Silva were the dignitaries present.
The programme began with a prayer that was led by Valentino Mascarenhas and Ancita Pinto. Fr. Austin Peres addressed the gathering and congratulated the YSD members for organizing the event. Fr. Gerald too added to Fr. Austin's words of praise towards the successful organization of the event. Mr. Melston while speaking to the participants wished them luck.
Fr. Austin Peres declared the Carrom event open and Fr. Gerald , chess. The tournament began at 8.45 AM.
A total of 65 people participated in Carrom Singles and 14 people participated in doubles. Chess had 37 participants.
The tournament was a grand success as it went on smoothly. The competition was tough but the participants were sportive.
