July 18 : Indian Catholic Youth Movement, Bejai, in association with the Commission for Ecology, held Youth SWAG 2023 - Youth Convention & Vanamahotsava on 16th July 2023 at 8.30 a.m. in the Bejai Church Hall.
A Thanksgiving Mass was offered by Rev. Fr. J. B. Saldanha. The Mass was followed by a formal program. The program began with a prayer song led by the members of ICYM. ICYM President Sonali Rodrigues then accompanied the guests to the stage and welcomed the guests and the gathering. Sr. Severine Crasta, Angela Convent Superior, Mr. Lawrence D’Souza, Commission for Ecology Secretary, along with Mr. Godwin Pinto, 21 Commissions Co-ordinator and Mrs. Silvia Lobo, Commission for Youth Secretary were the guests for the event.
Rev. Fr. J. B. Saldanha addressed the gathering, and spoke about the importance of nature and the environment.
The plants were distributed to the Gurkars and Representatives of all Church Wards.
ICYM Secretary Vion Lobo proposed the vote of thanks and brought an end to the formal program.
The members of YCS and ICYM performed a dance drama on the topic of Vanamahotsava which gave the message of saving trees.
The Youth Convention started right after the Vanamahotsava program. The convention began with action songs led by the ICYM ECD Executive members. A talk was given to the 8th and 9th grade Catechism students by Mr. Chris Crasta on the topic of family core values and ethics in the Church Mini Hall. At the same time, another talk was given to the older youth by Mr Melwyn Sequeira and Mrs Neetha Sequeira in the Church Hall on the same, after which, few games were organised by the ICYM ECD Executive members. This was followed by a cultural program where the members of YCS performed another dance drama on the topic of drug awareness, the members of the altar servers, children form Church B ward of the Church and the members of ICYM Bejai performed dances. The day ended with lunch blessed by Rev. Fr. Suraj Lobo and baila.
