June 25, 2024 : The Kulur Church Mini Hall buzzed with excitement as the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Kulur Unit, in collaboration with the Catholic Sabha, hosted a vibrant Konkani Singing Competition on June 23. The event kicked off with a solemn prayer service led by ICYM members.

The gathering received a warm welcome from Mr. Claver Dsouza, ICYM animator. The competition was officially inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Victor Vijay Lobo, Parish Priest of Kulur Parish, who lit the ceremonial lamp alongside distinguished guests including Arun Roshan Dsouza, Parish Pastoral Council Vice President; Dr. Vinay Rajat Dsouza, Parish Pastoral Commission animator; and event judges Alwyn Dcunha (Derebail), Irene Rebello (Kulshekar), and Simon Pais (Bajal). Also in attendance were Philomena Dsouza, Catholic Sabha President, and Listan Pinto, ICYM President.

With 91 participants competing across four categories, the event showcased a remarkable range of talent. Here are the winners:

5 to 10 years Male:

• Third: Clinton Dsouza (St Joseph Ward)

5 to 10 years Female:

• First: Joann Rionna Dsouza (St Anna Ward)
• Second: Riana Francia David (St Antony I Ward)
• Third: Vienna Maria Crasta (St Anna Ward)

10 to 15 years Male:

• First: Leon Melroy Dsouza (Cocess Ward)
• Second:Priston Crasta (Nithyadar Ward)
• Third: Joyson Aloysius Dsouza (Nithyadar Ward)

10 to 15 years Female:

• First: Lenora Anisha Concessao (St Sebastian Ward)
• Second: Chrislynn Dsouza (St Lawrence Ward)
• Third: Anwita Dsouza (St Lawrence Ward)

15 to 45 years Female:

• First: Sonia Dsouza (St Anna Ward)
• Second: Martine Dsouza (Cocess Ward)
• Third: Renisha Jane Dsouza (St Antony III Ward)

Above 45 years Male:

• First: Vincent Veigas (St Anna Ward)
• Second: Royce Dsouza (St Antony III Ward)
• Third: Rudolph Misquith (Pompei I Ward)

Above 45 years Female:

• First: Janet Lobo (Pompei I Ward)
• Second: Sujatha Lucy Dsouza (St Sebastian Ward)
• Third: Gretta Dsouza (St Sebastian Ward)

Judge Irene Rebello praised the participants for their enthusiasm, advising them to keep practicing, choose songs that suit their voices, and not be disheartened by the competition results. Rev. Fr. Victor Vijay Lobo expressed gratitude to all participants for their active involvement.

The event concluded with the distribution of trophies, prizes, and certificates to the winners. Listan Pinto, ICYM President, proposed a heartfelt vote of thanks. The program was skillfully compered by ICYM members Jovita Dsouza and Suzannha Ferrao.

The competition was a resounding success, celebrating the vibrant cultural spirit of the Kulur Parish community.
