Sep 4 : The ICYM Nirkan unit hosted an exciting inter-ward quiz competition named 'Zanvayek Savaal 2024' for the third time to parishioners of Nirkan Church. The event took place on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the St. Thomas Church Hall, Nirkan.

The event was honored by the presence of Rev. Fr. Leo William Lobo, the Parish Priest and Robin Joseph Sera served as both the quiz master and guest for the occasion. Alphonse Fernandes, the Founding President of CYM/ICYM Nirkan, Other attendees included Vincent Bennis, Vice president of PPC and Animator of ICYM Nirkan Unit; Shanthi Veigas, Secretary of PPC; Austin Lobo, Coordinator of commissions, Nirkan Church; Rolvish Fernandes, President of the ICYM Nirkan Unit, and Leesha Lobo, Secretary of the ICYM Nirkan Unit.

Rolvish Fernandes, President of ICYM Nirkan Unit, extended a warm welcome to the guests, participants and to all the attendees.

The atmosphere was set with a soulful prayer song by YCS members, invoking blessings on the proceedings.

Rev. Fr. Leo William Lobo inaugurated the event with an inspiring address, urging everyone to participate wholeheartedly and commending their active involvement from all the wards. He emphasized the importance of sportsmanship, Enthusiastic members from all seven wards participated in the competition, demonstrating significant enthusiasm for the parish initiatives.

The competition, conducted by Mr. Robin Joseph Sera, spanned 10 exciting rounds, featuring diverse questions on the Bible, general knowledge, Diocese-related topics, current affairs, and more. Additionally, Arwin Fernandes, the Media Representative of ICYM Nirkan Unit, hosted a captivating fill in the blanks round with questions related to ICYM and Nirkan Church, culminating in a pictorial presentation of the answers. Renita Cardoza and Melvita Crasta were updating the scores on the scoreboard.

After a riveting competition, the first prize was bagged by Nithyadar ward, with the second prize claimed by St Joseph ward.

In recognition of role as the quiz master, a token of gratitude was presented to Mr. Robin Joseph Sera.

Lisha Rodrigues, the member of ICYM Nirkan unit, concluded the event with a warm vote of thanks, while Melvita Crasta, member of ICYM Nirkan unit read out the score board of final scores secured by all the teams.

Mr. Rupert Cardoza, a member of ICYM Nirkan unit, compered the programme.
