Sep 5 : On the occasion of 72nd Independence Day, ICYM Omzoor Unit accompanied by Rev Fr Alwyn Dcunha Parish Priest and ICYM Unit Director visited ‘Snehasadan’ - Care centre for PLHIV on August 15 2018. The centre shelters about 40 children and 25 adults who are on treatment.
ICYM members reached the care centre at around 2.30 pm. The children over there were very much excited to receive the members gathered. There was a broad smile on the faces of the children and they were very happy to engage themselves with the members gathered there. The members interacted with the children and greeted them with great enthusiasm. The children organised a programme on the occasion of Independence Day which included group singing, solo singing, group dance, solo dance, speech on the topic ‘Independent India’ which showcased their energy, enthusiasm and talent.
Soon after their programme ICYM members took over and taught them various action songs, conducted games, danced with the children and had fun along with the kids. All the children actively participated and they looked so joyful and excited. On this occasion Rev Fr Alwyn Dcunha along with the ICYM members handed over the donation amount of Rs 31,000 and the donation in kind worth of Rs 66,000 which was donated by the Omzoor parishioners.
The members distributed various gifts to the children and also snacks and chocolates to the kids. Refreshments were arranged by 'Snehasadan' for all the people gathered. All of them enjoyed and performed a baila dance before saying goodbye to the children. It was indeed a very satisfying experience for all as we could bring a smile on their faces for a brief period. It was a very special day to all of us. We were able to realize our social responsibility towards the society. It was indeed a well spent day and a true Independence Day celebration.
