Nov 16 : The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Manjotty organized an exciting HOLY CROSS TROPHY 2K24 Season 2 at Starline English Medium School Ground, Manjotty on November 10, 2024 in collaboration with Belthangady Denary. The event brought together talented teams from 10 parishes across the Belthangady Deanery to participate in cricket match for men and Lagori match for women, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and unity within the community.
The event commenced at 9:30 AM, with the Emcees, Mr. Clavin Miranda and Mr. Marwin Miranda, welcoming the gathering. The opening prayer hymn, led by ICYM members, set a reverent and hopeful tone for the day.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Rev. Fr. Praveen D'Souza, Parish Priest and Director of ICYM; Mr. Sayyad Habeeb Saheb, Founder of Starline English Medium School; H.M Jakin Binu Serrao, of Starline English Medium School; Mr. Mark D'Souza, Vice-President of Manjotty Parish; Mrs. Irene Sequeira, Secretary of Manjotty Parish; Mr. Vinod Pinto, Coordinator of 21 Commissions; Dr. Joyston D'Souza Joint Secretary of Mangalore diocese; Mr. Supreeth Fernandes, President of ICYM Belthangady Deanery; Monal Rasquinha, Secretary of ICYM Belthangady Deanery; Mr. Marwin Miranda ICYM Manjotty unit President and Mr. Rovin Sequeira, Secretary of ICYM Manjotty unit along with Deanery Sports Secretary Mr. Vinod Rodrigues and Kiran, ICYM Manjotty unit sports secretary.
The most awaited moment of the event arrived with the start of the Lagori and Cricket matches. There were 8 men's Cricket teams and 4 women's Lagori teams participating. The games were filled with enthusiasm and energy as teams competed in both Matches.
During the matches representative members of the ICYM Belthangady deanery and unit members of all parishes were present to support the players. Tokens of gratitude were presented to all the guests, referees, sponsors, commentary and well-wishers who contributed to the success of the event.
As the matches concluded and the winners were finalised, the closing ceremony began. The closing ceremony was led by Miss Veena Rodrigues; Mrs. Jakin Binu Searro, H.M of Starline English Medium School delivered a message. She highlighted the success of the event, addressed the challenges faced and also congratulated the winners.
Special Thanks to Christine M Dsouza , owner of "Flora Travels" who has sponsored the Trophies in memory of Late Christopher C M Dsouza Bendur for the Cricket and Lagori tournament. Thanks to the school management team for providing the playground to make the event successful.

During each match medals were distributed to well played players for both cricket & Lagori matches.
In the evening, a special DJ performance by DJ Francis added a lively and celebratory atmosphere, with attendees enjoying music and dance. The event concluded at 6:30 PM with a vote of thanks by Mr. Clavin Miranda, who expressed gratitude to the guests, participants, and organizers for their support and enthusiasm, making the HOLY CROSS TROPHY 2K24 - Season 2 a memorable success.
