Jan 31, 2024 : On January 26th, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) North Deanery, in collaboration with ICYM Neerude Unit organized the Pearl Jubilee Cup 2024. The event featured cricket matches for men, throw ball matches for women, and tug of war competitions.
The matches kicked off at 9 am, while the inauguration stage program commenced at 10 am. starting with the prayer. The distinguished guests included Neerude Church priest and ICYM Neerude Unit director Rev Fr. Alban Rodrigues, who presided over the program. The event was graced by ICYM Central Council Secretary Wilma Lobo, Church Vice President Monika Rodrigues, Ayog Sachalak Roshon Noronha, the Sisters of the Church, ICYM Neerude Unit Animator Oswald D'Souza, ICYM North Deanery President Laster Lasrado, ICYM North Deanery, and ICYM Neerude Unit Sports Secretary Royston Dcosta and Rolan Fernandes.
The program commenced with ICYM Neerude Unit President Royden Vaz extending a warm welcome to the guests. There was 30th logo launch ceremony of ICYM Mangalore North Deanery. Rev Fr. Alban Rodrigues addressed the gathering, setting the tone for the day's events.
Recently a serious accident happened with a family and the ICYM Neerude Unit helped them with money by keeping a money box on match day. The collected money was given to that needy family.
After the stage program, the matches continued throughout the day. In the evening, a small program announced the winners and runners-up. LF Niddodi emerged victorious in the cricket matches, with Classic Cricketers Kirem securing the runner-up position. In the throw ball, Niddodi claimed the top spot, while Kirem took the runner-up position. Kinnigoli triumphed in tug of war, with Neerude securing the runner-up spot.
Trophies and medals were distributed to the deserving teams.The Mangalore North Deanery felicitated Leroy Pinto for his achievements in winning a gold medal in the state powerlifting competition and a bronze medal in the national powerlifting competition. This occurred during the Pearl Jubilee Cup 2024.
The concluding part of the event saw ICYM North Deanery President Laster Lasrado expressing gratitude to everyone involved. Neerude priest and Deanery Director Rev Fr. Lancy Saldana followed by our ICYM Central president Mitesh Dsouza for joining the event, Neerude Unit President Royden Vaz and Sports Secretary of Deanery and Unit, Royston Dcosta and Rolan Fernandes, along with Cultural Secretary Floyd Pinto and the event's commentators, referees, and all participants.
The program concluded at 6:30pm, marking the successful culmination of the Pearl Jubilee Cup 2024, celebrating sportsmanship and camaraderie within the ICYM community.
