Sep 11 : St. Simon Deanery Pezar organized ‘Youth Fiesta - 2024’ for the youngsters of the Pezar Deanery on 1st September at 10 AM in the Mary Help of Christians Church Auditorium, Adyapady. Youngsters from the Parishes – Adyapady, Bajpe, Ferar, Gurpur, Permude and Pezar were present. The event commenced with a heartfelt prayer song led by Bajpe youngsters. Following the prayer, dignitaries on the dais were V. Rev. Fr. Rudolph Ravi D'Sa - Vicar Forane of the Pezar Deanery, Rev. Fr. Vivian Rodrigues - Director of ICYM Pezar Deanery, Rev. Fr. Francis Rodrigues – Director of ICYM Adyapady, Rev. Fr. Victor Dias – from the congregation of Montfort Missionary, Mysore, Ms. Riana D’Cunha – Lady Vice President of ICYM Mangalore Diocese and ICYM Pezar Deanery Representative, Josvita D’Souza –ICYM Pezar Deanery President and Sony D’Souza – ICYM Pezar Deanery Secretary. Josvita D’Souza welcomed the gathering with warm words of encouragement. The program was then inaugurated by the dignitaries by lighting the lamps and dropping them into the water bowl as a symbol to ignite the flame of knowledge, wisdom, and unity amongst the youth of the ICYM Pezar Deanery. Just as the light dispels darkness, may this event shine bright with purpose and inspiration for all the youngsters. V. Rev. Fr. Rudolph Ravi D’Sa in his address, urged the youth not to confine themselves within the boundaries of the parish but to extend their work towards social causes, strive to achieve big and leave a mark. Sony D’Souza, expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the event.
The stage was vacated by the Honorary Guests for the next program. The program continued with an introduction of the resource person led by Angel Pereira – President of ICYM Ferar Unit. The Resource Person Kripanjali Tellis Nayak gave a productive and effective session on the topic – ‘Grooming and Wellbeing’. She outlined grooming techniques and self-presentation tips tailored to various situations. All the youngsters actively participated in the sessions and made a very good use of it. Following this, youngsters were divided into 6 different groups, the fun-filled games were conducted by the ICYM Pezar Deanery Executive Committee and Brother Ashlin Pinto, Brother Royston D’Souza. Later, lunch was served to everyone gathered. After the lunch break, a lively debate session was held on three diverse and thought-provoking topics. Youngsters eagerly gathered to share their views, sparking insightful discussions. The exchange of ideas soon evolved into a spirited yet respectful debate between the groups, fostering an environment of healthy dialogue, learning, and mutual understanding. Later, Productive session on agriculture and plantation was conducted by Mr. Dolphy Pinto, Secretary of Permude Parish. Youngsters planted different varieties of plants in the vicinity of the Adyapady Church.
ICYM Mangalore Diocese Central Council Director Rev. Fr. Ashwin Cardoza, and Secretary Ashlin D’Souza, along with the Central Council Team were welcomed to the event. Rev. Fr. Ashwin Cardoza provided insights and congratulated the youngsters for their active participation in the event. All six groups of youngsters then delivered a captivating and meaningful program, showcasing their talents through a vibrant mix of dance, singing, and drama. The President of the ICYM Pezar Deanery Josvita D’Souza, thanked the brothers, Ashlin Pinto and Royston D’Souza for their support for the event and a token of gratitude was handed over to them. ICYM Pezar Deanery Director, Rev. Fr. Nishanth Rodrigues, commended the ICYM Pezar Deanery Executive Committee and all the youngsters for their enthusiastic participation and support in making the 'Youth Fiesta' a success. He encouraged them to continue this spirit of unity and cooperation for all future Deanery events. He then distributed the prize winners of the group games. The event witnessed around 85 young participants, who benefited from the insightful sessions on grooming and agriculture. Photos were taken by Sagon Noronha to capture the memories of the day.
