Dec 28, 2023 : The ICYM Shamboor Unit organised a vibrant and culturally enriched evening, "CHRISTMAS NIGHT– 2023," to commemorate the joyous occasion of Christmas on December 25. The event aimed to bring together the parishioners for a celebration filled with cultural performances and festive spirit.

Prior to the event, ICYM members devoted time and effort to decorate the church altar and create an exquisite crib, enhancing the ambiance of the church and evoking the festive atmosphere.

The cultural evening commenced at 6:30 pm at the church grounds with a melodious prayer song sung by the ICYM members. The esteemed guests, including Rev. Fr. Santhosh Dsouza (Parish Priest, Shamboor Church), Lancy Crasta (Secretary, Shamboor Parish Pastoral Council), Melvin Pais (Animator), Rithesh Lobo (President), and Roy Pashan (Secretary, ICYM Shamboor Unit), inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp, symbolising the spirit of enlightenment and joy. Joswin Veigas hosted the master of ceremony.

Highlights of the Programme:

• Rev. Fr. Santhosh Dsouza addressed the gathering, sharing insightful words on the significance of Christmas and commending the ICYM members for their efforts in organizing the splendid event.
• A delightful Kuswar and cake 'n' wine auction conducted by Sujai Lobo and Ashwin Fernandez, added a delightful touch to the festivities, engaging the participants and spreading joy.
• Recognition and distribution of prizes to the winners of the star and crib contest, showcasing the creative talents within the parish.
• Lancy Crasta delivered a brief speech, encapsulating the essence of Christmas and its importance.
• Roy Pashan extended heartfelt gratitude through the vote of thanks, acknowledging all contributors and participants who made the event successful.

The cultural segment commenced with a prayer dance performed by ICYM members, setting the stage for an array of captivating cultural performances by parishioners. The audience experienced a diverse display of talents, including music, dance, and skits, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the community.
