Dec 31 : On the joyous occasion of Christmas 2024, ICYM Shamboor enhanced the festive spirit by decorating the church altar and preparing a beautiful crib to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ. To make the celebration even more special, the ICYM Shamboor unit organized "CHRISTMAS SAHAMILAN – 2k24", a grand cultural evening held on Monday, 25th December, at 6:30 PM on the church grounds.

The program began with a soulful prayer song sung by the ICYM members. Rev. Fr. Santhosh Dsouza, Parish Priest of Shamboor Church, along with Lancy Crasta, Secretary of Shamboor Parish Pastoral Council; Melvin Pais, Animator; Rithesh Lobo, Secretary of St. John Paul II Vitla Deanery; President Roy Pashan; Leediya Lobo, Secretary; and Joshua Baptist, Cultural Secretary of ICYM Shamboor unit, inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.

The stage emcee duties were ably handled by Aston Fernandes, while the cultural emcees were Joshua Baptist and Sujai Lobo, who kept the energy alive throughout the event.

Rev. Fr. Santhosh Dsouza addressed the gathering, sharing his insights on the true meaning of Christmas and appreciating the ICYM members for organizing a spectacular event. The evening was packed with exciting activities, including the Kuswar and cake and wine auction, which were hosted by Joshua Baptist and Joshua Veigas, respectively, adding charm and fun to the program.

Prizes were distributed to the winners of the star and crib contests, organized by ICYM Shamboor. Lancy Crasta shared a few words on the joy and significance of Christmas, while Leediya Lobo extended heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event through a vote of thanks.

The highlight of the evening was the Cultural Competition, featuring dance, singing, and skit performances by the four wards of the parish. The cultural program was inaugurated with a prayer dance performed by ICYM members. The competitions were judged by Pradeep Rosario from Kuppepadavu and Prinson Pinto from Hospet, who were impressed by the outstanding and enthusiastic performances.

Skit:
1st Place: St. Joseph Ward
2nd Place: St. Antony Ward

Singing:
1st Place: St. Joseph Ward
2nd Place: St. Antony Ward

Dance:
1st Place: St. Joseph Ward
2nd Place: Sacred Heart Ward

Based on the overall performance, St. Joseph Ward emerged as the Overall Champions, with St. Antony Ward as the Runner-Up and Sacred Heart Ward taking third place. St. Sebastian Ward secured fourth place.

Dinner was arranged for all parishioners, who came together in large numbers to support and enjoy the festivities. The immense participation and enthusiasm of the parishioners made the day truly memorable.

The CHRISTMAS SAHAMILAN – 2k24 was a fun-filled and unforgettable celebration, uniting the community in the true spirit of Christmas.
