March 9 : Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Neermarga unit organised an inter-ward cricket tournament on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at St Joseph The Worker Church ground.
The inaugural programme commenced by seeking God’s blessings through a prayer song. Lester Saldanha, Vice President of ICYM Neermarga unit welcomed the gathering. Fr Ashwin Cardozo, the director of ICYM central council was the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony. Fr Anil D'mello Parish priest, Mr. Ravi Saldanha Vice president of Parish council, Sr. Rufina Superior of Holy cross convent, Mr. Prakash Pereira Secretary Parish council, Ms. Sapna Gonsalves Lady vice president ICYM Central council, Ms. Vinitha Dsouza Amcho Yuvak Representative ICYM Central council, Mr. Sunil Vas and Sundeep Misquith - ICYM Animators Neermarga Unit, Ms. Melvita Vas Culture & Sports Secretary ICYM Neermarga Unit were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
ICYM Central council members of Mangalore Diocese, President Jaison Crasta, General Secretary Vishma Dcunha, Treasurer Anil Sequeria, Auditor Deepak D'Souza, nominated member Pradeep Rosario were present.
The ICYM unit of Neermarga handed over plant pots to the Sponsors as a token of thanks, because of whom the event was a great success.
13 teams in the men's category and 9 teams in women’s category participated in the tournament.
Player of the series was won by Roshan, Best batsman and best bowler was won by Rajesh in men's category. Player of the series and best batsman in women's category was won by Fevita Pinto and best bowler was won by Joyce.
Winners prize was bagged by the Holy Family ward in men's category and St. Joseph ward in women's Category. Runner up prize was won by Lourdes Ward in men's and women's Category.
The Parish priest congratulated the winners by handing over the trophy. YCS Neermarga members also played a big role in making this event successful by volunteering. The day ended successfully with sports spirit and an enthusiastic audience.
