Aug 21 : The "Yuva Sangam" program was a dynamic and engaging event organized by ICYM Neermarga and Youth Commission, under the guidance of ICYM Director and parish priest Fr. Paul Pinto on 20th August 2023, at Neermarga church.
The day started with the invocation of God's blessings through a prayer song. Jeshma Saldanha, ICYM Neermarga Unit President, extended a warm welcome. ICYM members extended a warm welcome to the dignitaries with roses. The dignitaries, including Fr. Paul Pinto, Mr. Francis Gonsalves, Mrs. Zita Usha Fernandes - Secretary, Mr. Prasad Vas and Mrs. Cleona D’Souza - Animators, Ashton D’Souza - ICYM City Deanery President, and Jeshma Saldanha - ICYM Neermarga Unit President, inaugurated the event.

Francis Gonsalves addressed the youth to be active, dynamic and to keep themselves away from the evils of substance abuse and drug menace. Fr Paul Pinto, in his presidential speech, called upon youths to be united and work towards the betterment of the society. Fr. Paul Pinto gave a token of gratitude to Ashton D’Souza for becoming ICYM City Deanery President.
Various games and dance performances were conducted by ICYM Members for the youths present at the event for their enjoyment and were divided into 4 teams . The names of the 4 groups are :
Group 1 - Doberman
Group 2 - Pitbull
Group 3 - German shepherd
Group 4 - Kaat Pete
The leaderboard position is
Group 4 came 1st
Group 2 and 3 - 2nd
Group 1 - 3rd
All the participating youth gave their best to win the event.
ICYM Member Arvin introduced the resource person, Ms. Jennifer Carlo. The resource person, Ms. Jennifer Carlo, delivered insightful knowledge about the resilience and mental health of youth. Sunil Pereira the animator for the past 6 years in ICYM was felicitated. ICYM Mangalore Diocese President Mithesh Dsouza, Secretary Wilma Lobo, and other council members were present at the event . Event’s energy was maintained by Mr. Prasad Vas, and Mrs. Cleona D’Souza - Animators and all the other ICYM members. They all boosted the whole program with enthusiasm.
Conclusion:
ICYM Member Ocheal Serrao delivered a gracious vote of thanks. The event was skillfully hosted by the MC, ICYM Member Alvita Dsouza, leaving everyone enriched and inspired. The event ended with a baila performance.
