Nov 9 : The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Cordel organized an exciting Platinum Jubilee Cup at the Holy Cross Church Cordel Grounds, Kulshekar, Mangalore, on October 31, 2024. The event brought together talented teams from various parishes across the diocese to participate in cricket and throwball matches, fostering a spirit of sportsmanship and unity within the community.
The event commenced at 8:30 AM, with the Emcees, Mr. Rynel Sequeira and Mr. Melroy Furtado, welcoming the gathering. The opening prayer hymn, led by ICYM members, set a reverent and hopeful tone for the day.

The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Rev. Fr. Clifford Fernandes, Parish Priest and Director of ICYM; Fr. Paul Sebastian D'Souza, Assistant Director of ICYM Cordel Unit; Fr. Vijay Monteiro, Assistant Parish Priest of Cordel; Mrs. Silvia Ruth Castelino, Vice-President of Cordel Parish; Mr. Anil D'Sa, Secretary of Cordel Parish; and Mr. Dolphy D'Souza, Coordinator of 21 Commissions. ICYM President Mr. Vikas Rodrigues and Secretary Ms. Delma D'Silva, along with Sports Secretary Ashwel who played an instrumental role in organizing this successful event along with the Main Guest of Honour Prashanth Braggs.
Prashanth Braggs is an ICC Level 3 coach with a global playing and coaching background, including UAE National representation. He has coached at top academies in Dubai and India, mentoring players and coaches across levels. An ex-banker, he also holds an MBA and is a certified financial professional.
The games were filled with enthusiasm and energy as teams competed in both cricket and throwball matches. The competition highlighted the skills and dedication of each team. The winners of the matches were as follows:

In the evening, a special DJ performance by DJ Anil added a lively and celebratory atmosphere, with attendees enjoying music and dance. The event concluded at 6:00 PM with a vote of thanks by Ms. Sweedal Mendonca, who expressed gratitude to the guests, participants, and organizers for their support and enthusiasm, making the Platinum Jubilee Cup 2024 a memorable success.
