Indian Catholic Youth Movement, Diocese of Mangalore is celebrating 75th year of its foundation. The Patron of ICYM St Gonsalo Garcia is a model to live life youthfully, filled with enthusiasm and zest. ICYM has been in the forefront to serve , involve and respond creatively by journeying with the youth. It has been catering to the needs of youngsters by helping them to be alive in all areas. ICYM has also aided many youth to be effective leaders as they get an opportunity to serve through various responsible positions. Furthermore, ICYM has helped to promote values that build a person to be humane.
The motto of ICYM is “To lead, To serve, To shine”. The primary aim is to motivate, form and promote the youth to be active members of the society. The Bishop of Mangalore diocese is the head of ICYM, Diocese of Mangalore. ICYM has always been supported by several bishops over the years. In order to execute the functions of ICYM effectively, a committee is formed that consists of select members called DEXCO (Diocesean executive committee). The Director of ICYM oversees the functioning , planning and execution of the activities particularly for youth. The Director is helped by the President, the General Secretary and other members of the committee to implement the plans . In the past years, numerous activities were conducted and informative sessions were held under the able leadership of DEXCO that faithfully executed the plans.
Overall, these events have been organised to help the youth to participate actively and to bring out the leader in them. In addition to that, ICYM has also helped those most in need.
This year we celebrate the jubilee with Most Rev Peter Paul Saldanha , Bishop of Mangalore Diocese, Rev Fr Ashwin Lohit Cardoza - Director , Jaison Lawrence Crasta -President , Blairil Vishma Dcunha - General Secretary and Dexco of 2022. We are glad to announce that ICYM Mangalore Diocese is celebrating 75th year of its existence on 12th June 2022 in Vamanjoor Church Hall from 2.15 pm onwards. To mark this auspicious occasion , a grand celebration is held consisting of felicitation, cultural programmes by the youth and several other mind-blowing events. All are cordially invited. The ICYM Mangalore Diocese is grateful to God for all the blessings received over the years.
