Jul 12 : Indian Catholic Youth Movement Central Council, Diocese of Mangalore organised a Training Program for all the Unit and Deanery Presidents, Secretaries, Treasurers, Amcho Yuvak and Red drop representatives on 10th July 2022 at St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangalore.
The programme began at 9:30AM. Rev Dr Praveen Martis S J, Principal, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) was the chief guest of the programme. Dr John Edward D'Silva, Secretary Diocesan Pastoral Council Mangalore Diocese was the Guest of honour. Rev Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza - Director ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Mr Jaison Lawrence Crasta - President ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Ms Blairil Vishma D'Cunha - General Secretary ICYM Mangalore Diocese were also present on the dais. The executive Council members and the office bearers of various Units and Deaneries were present for the programme.
Mr Jaison Lawrence Crasta welcomed the gathering. Rev Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza gave a floral welcome to the guests.
Rev Fr Praveen Martis SJ in his address spoke about how the young people should evolve as leaders irrespective of their career choices. He emphasized that ICYM is a wonderful platform to train oneself in becoming an asset to the minority community of the Diocese. He also expressed his ideas on how the young leaders should manifest their thoughts and strive hard to reach their goals in life. He encouraged the youth to come forward and become an asset to the society and also become successful leaders for the betterment of the community.
Rev Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza congratulated all the newly elected office bearers of Units and Deaneries. He said we should become like salt in the water, salt when it is mixed with water disintegrates and becomes one with water. Today more than ever there is a need of staying United and working as a team for the integral development of ICYM.
Ms Blairil Vishma D'Cunha proposed the Vote of thanks. Mr Jaison Lawrence Crasta handed over the token of Love and gratitude to all the dignitaries present on the dais. Mr Rakesh Rego , Joint Secretary ICYM Mangalore Diocese compered the formal function.
Dr John D' Silva took up the first session on his experience as a youth and Leadership and its role in building the community. He spoke about various activities that should be conducted by the Units as well as Deaneries that will have an impact on the society and also help the people of the community.
The Diocesan executive committee members led by Mr Jaison Lawrence Crasta conducted action songs for all the youth and kept their energy levels boosted up.
Session two was conducted by Rev Fr Stany Pinto, Campus Director and Assistant Professor, St Philomena College, Puttur. He engaged the youth throughout the session by giving testimonials on his own life. He gave insights on the importance of having courage and perseverance and also emphasized on how one must face challenges bravely and overcome all the stress situations. Towards the end of the session he conducted an activity for all the participants which highlighted the importance of communication and its significance in one's life which will enable them to emerge as successful leaders. He also thanked ICYM Mangalore Diocese and Rev Fr Ashwin for having him as a resource person.
Rev Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza handed over the memento as a token of Love and gratitude to the resource person.
The session was followed by Holy Eucharistic Celebration at St Aloysius Chapel. The main celebrant was Rev Fr Santosh D'Souza, Resident Priest, Rosario Cathedral Church, Mangalore. Rev Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza and Ms Blairil Vishma D'Cunha handed over a memento to Rev Fr Santosh D'Souza and Chapel incharge Mr Alwyn Pais for their goodwill.
The final session of the training program was conducted by the Diocesan Executive members. Mr Jaison Lawrence Crasta-President, Ms Blairil Vishma D'Cunha-General Secretary, Mr Anil Rupesh- Accountant Bishops House, Ms Anil John Sequeira-Treasurer, Ms Vinita Reshma D'Souza-Amcho Yuvak Editor, Mr Joel Christel Crasta-Red Drop Representative, Mr Pradeep Prajwal Rosario- Red Drop Coordinator conducted the sessions in separate halls for all the Unit/Deanery Presidents, Secretaries, Treasurers, Amcho Yuvak Representatives and Red Drop Representatives respectively.
All the youth took active part in the activities and the sessions conducted and took home an ocean of knowledge which will enable them to become fruitful leaders and also hold high the name of ICYM. We truly believe that the youth who have received this immense knowledge will definitely make a difference to the Community.
