Sep 19 : On the occasion of celebrating the Nativity of Mother Mary and experiencing her love and blessings, ICYM Central Council Mangalore along with ICYM Puttur Deanery council celebrated “Novem Jevan” in St Philomena College Puttur on 16th September 2023.
Very Rev. Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas Vicar Forane of Puttur Deanery and the Parish Priest of Puttur church, Rev Fr Ashwin Cardoza Director ICYM Mangalore Diocese, Rev Fr Rupesh Tauro Director ICYM Puttur Deanery, Rev Fr Lohith Mascarenhas Asst. Parish Priest Puttur, Rev Fr Stany Pinto Campus Director St Philomena College Puttur, Rev Fr Ashok Rayan Crasta Principal St Philomena P.U college, Rev Fr Deepak D’Sa HeadMaster Sacred Heart School Mandanthyar, Mithesh D’Souza ICYM Diocesan President, Wilma Lobo ICYM Diocesan Secretary, Anthony Mascarenhas ICYM Puttur Deanery President and Rishal Rego secretary were present on the dais.
The programme commenced with prayer led by the Central Council Members. Wilma Lobo welcomed the gathering.
Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas stated in his message that celebrating the Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and sharing a festive meal with ICYM members was a good idea. He said that such programmes would foster a sense of family among all.
Fr Ashwin Cardoza in his speech, commented about the importance of familial spirit among the youth. He also thanked all who have taken efforts to organise the programme.
ICYM president Mithesh D’Souza spoke about the importance of family in one’s life. He also described Mother Mary as a caring mother and told about the significance of this family feast for every individual. Rishal Rego delivered the vote of thanks. Ashton D’Souza Central council member compered the programme.
Fr Lawrence Mascarenhas blessed the “Novem”. The Novem Jevan featured 5 food items. The menu included Alu Dento, Moong Curry, Sango Suke, Sane Suke, Pickle, Rice and Payasam.
Mithesh D’souza, Wilma Lobo along with Executive committee Central council and Puttur Deanery council members savoured the meal as one family.
