Aug 17, 2017: Indian Catholic Youth Movement, a premier youth movement of Mangalore Diocese reached out to the society through a noble initiative, organizing a Red Drop Campaign at Fr Muller’s, KMC and A J Hospital Blood Banks simultaneously here on Tuesday, August 15. This Blood donation campaign was organized to mark the 71st Independence Day and the 71st year of ICYM in Mangalore Diocese and also to publicize the ICYM Blood Account which was set up in 2016.
During a short program held at A.J Hospital, Mr. Gopal Krishna the in charge of the Blood Bank spoke on the noble deeds of blood donations and various aspects and advantages of blood donation. A donor too becomes unknowingly aware of his health conditions and can take precautions for his health benefit. He emphasized that it is harmless to donate blood by healthy adults and stressed the need to take the required simple precautions. He also encouraged the volunteers to regularly donate blood and appreciated the efforts put by ICYM in organizing the campaign.
The Diocesan Director of ICYM Rev. Fr Ronald D’Souza thanked all the Blood donors for their noble gesture. He informed them that by donating blood they are helping their fellow brethren in saving their life as today it may be others need but tomorrow it may be our need. He also encouraged everyone to come forward and donate blood if able-bodied as this one simple action will speak for itself about gentleness, fellow-feelings, kindness and love for humanity. "God has created life in this world. By donating blood to the life in need of blood, we save God’s children. Hence by serving man, we serve God." he added.
Diocesan ICYM President Mr. Elroy P. Saldanha, General Secretary Mr. Joel Concessao, PRO Mr. Rohan Lewis, Immediate Past President Mr. Jackson Dcosta were present on the occasion. 71 donors voluntarily donated blood on this occasion. Radio Daiji world is the official Radio partner for this campaign.
