Jan 16, 2025 : ICYM Bajpe Unit organized the Interward Cricket and Throwball Tournament on Sunday, January 5th, at the St. Joseph's High School grounds. The parish priest, Rev. Dr. Ronald Cutinha, Parish Pastoral Council Vice-President Mr. Stany D'Souza, ICYM Bajpe Unit Animator Ms. Frenita Tauro, ICYM President Ms. Melria Saldanha, Secretary Ms. Carol Lobo, and Sports Secretary Mr. Aaron Vaz were present on the dais.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with a prayer song to invoke God's blessings on the event. ICYM Bajpe Unit President Ms. Melria Saldanha welcomed the guests and the gathering. Parish Priest Rev. Dr. Ronald Cutinha addressed the gathering, and the dignitaries formally inaugurated the tournament. ICYM Bajpe Unit Secretary Ms. Carol Lobo delivered the vote of thanks, and Mr. Clide Patrao compered the stage program.

Thirteen wards participated in the Men’s Cricket Tournament, and five teams participated in the Women’s Throwball Tournament. The parishioners participated with great enthusiasm and showcased their sportsmanship.

The valedictory program commenced at 5:00 PM, with the assistant parish priest Rev. Fr. Vivian Rodrigues, and other dignitaries present. Mr. Ruben D'Souza announced the results.

St. Paul ward emerged as the Champions of the Inter-Ward Cricket Tournament, and Nithyadar ward won the Runners-up position. Mr. Glen D’Souza won the Best Batsman trophy, Mr. Errol Tauro won the Best Bowler trophy, and Mr. Roston Lobo won the Man of the Series award.

The winners of the Inter-Ward Throwball Tournament were Nithyadar ward and St. Lawrence II ward secured the second position. Ms. Oshin Miranda won the Best Thrower trophy, Ms. Risha Pinto won the Best Receiver trophy, and Mrs. Sandhya Cutinha won the Best All–Rounder award.

The event was a success with great participation from parishioners of all ages.
