Monsoon is the real finance minister of India - Very Rev Fr Austin Peter Peres

Aug 1 : On the occasion of Golden Jubilee Year of Yuvak Sangh / ICYM Surathkal Unit, ICYM Surathkal Unit held "KULKULO – Pavsanth Ek Dees" an inter-ward water games event for the parishioners of Sacred Heart Church, Surathkal on Sunday, 30th July 2023 at Sacred Heart Church Premises.

The programme commenced with a march-past parade on the theme-Join hands to make the Earth Green by the competing wards followed by a prayer song at 10.30 AM by ICYM Choir. Joyvin D Souza – President, ICYM Surathkal unit welcomed the guests and the gathering. 

The Guest for this event Very Rev Fr Austin Peter Peres, Vicar Forane, Surathkal Vicariate and the Parish Priest of Surathkal Church, Mr Ronald Silvan D Souza, Founder, Executive Director, Leksa Lighting Technologies Pvt Ltd, Fr Richard D'Souza, Asst Director ICYM Surathkal, Mr Russel Roche, Vice President PPC, Mrs Asha Pinto Secretary PPC, Mr Norbert Misquith, Coordinator of PP Commissions, Mr Sandeep, Convenor of the Youth Commission, Ms Teena Rebello, ICYM Animator, Ms Shamitha,YCS Animator, Mr Mithesh D Souza President of ICYM Central Council, Ms Lavita D Souza, President Mother Teresa Deanery, Mr Joyvin, ICYM President of Surathkal Unit, Ms Maria D Silva, ICYM Secretary of Surathkal Unit and judges Ashwin Corderio, Valencia and Sonal Rodrigues, Bejai were present on the dais. Ms Maria D Silva proposed the vote of thanks.

The Guests inaugurated the event by letting go of the KULKULO flag tied with Helium balloons followed by inaugurating the GOLDEN JUBILEE YEAR and Logo along with former presidents who served ICYM Surathkal unit in the past 49 years.

The Chief Guest Mr Ronald Selvin D Souza addressed the gathering on Youth power and the opportunity the Youth should utilize to show their youth power. Very Rev Fr Austin Peter Peres in his presidential Speech praised the ICYM for their works done in past years and explained the importance of Monsoon by saying “Monsoon is the real finance minister of India”.

ICYM and YCS Surathkal members also provided stalls of foods related to monsoon season prepared by Parish wards and games for the parishioners.

16 wards participated in this event. 8 Mega water games like sponge games,water balloon games, fishing, slippery reaction, pulling the pickup and other group and individual games were held. The ward members performed extremely well and tried to make their ward win. 

The valedictory program started with Very Rev Fr Austin Peter Peres giving his message on Team Spirit and Participation and praised the ICYM unit for conducting this event. The prize distribution ceremony was conducted by Ms Anisha Fernandes. ICYM Joint Secretary Ms Veona Noronha proposed the Vote of Thanks. The event concluded with ICYM Theme song followed by rain dance.

Ms Marina compered the event. Around 400 Parishioners attended this event.
