Aug 16, 2023 : On the occasion of 77th Independence Day of India on August 15, ICYM Surathkal Unit organised "Pookalam Competition” , a Flower Rangoli competition for the first time at Surathkal Parish for the children of age group 10-18 years, at Sacred Heart Conference hall.

10 Groups of 3 children each participated in the competition. Ms Vivid D’Souza Secretary of Parish council Katipalla, Working as Assistant Professor in the dept. Of Zoology , St Agnes College Autonomous Mangaluru was the judge of the event.

Fr Richard D'Souza- Asst Director ICYM Surathkal, Ms Vivid D’Souza ,Sandeep D’Souza -Convenor of the Youth Commission, Teena Rebello - animator of ICYM, Joyvin D'Souza - president of ICYM, Maria D'Silva - Secretary of ICYM were the dignitaries on the dais for the Valedictory ceremony.

Ms Vivid D’Souza congratulated all the participants and stated that participation is more important than winning. Fr Richard D’Souza announced the winners and congratulated them. Joyvin D’Souza welcomed the Judge and the gathering. Maria D’Silva delivered the vote of thanks. Clarin Fernandes compered the program.
