Aug 14 : On the occasion of National Youth Sunday, the Indian Catholic Youth Movement, St. Matthew Deanery, Moodbidri, in association with the Gantalkatte Unit, organized a one-day youth gathering, "Yuva Ekthar - 2024," for the youth of Moodbidri Deanery on August 11, 2024, at Gantalkatte Church Hall.

The program commenced at 9.30am with a prayer service led by the Gantalkatte Unit. The ICYM Moodbidri Deanery President Javin Dsouza welcomed the gathering. V. Rev. Fr. Onil Dsouza - Vicar Forane and Director of ICYM Moodbidri Deanery presided over the inaugural ceremony and inaugurated the program along with Rev. Fr. Ronald Prakash Dsouza - Parish Priest of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Church Gantalkatte, Mr. Sunil Miranda -Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council Gantalkatte, Mrs. Lidiya Dsouza - Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council Gantalkatte, Mr. Alwyn Menezes - Convener of 21 Commissions Gantalkatte, Mr. Winston Joel Sequeira - President of ICYM Central Council Mangalore Diocese, Ms. Reena Anjali Crasta - Treasurer of ICYM Central Council Mangalore Diocese and Moodbidri Deanery Representative, Ms. Glany Vinita Colaco - Secretary of ICYM Moodbidri Deanery, Mr. Ishan Menezes - President of ICYM Gantalkatte Unit and Ms. Glenita Menezes - Secretary of ICYM Gantalkatte Unit.

During this program, ICYM Moodbidri Deanery honoured Mr. Mithesh Dsouza for his service as President and Mr Llyod Menezes for his service as Nominated Member of ICYM Central Council of Mangalore Diocese for the year 2023-2024. Also congratulated Mr. Winston Joel Sequeira for being elected as the President of ICYM Central Council of Mangalore Diocese for the year 2024-25 and recognized the Moodbidri Deanery Executive Committee members of the year 2023-24. Thereafter, V. Rev. Fr. Onil Dsouza in his presidential address emphasized the importance of punctuality and discipline among the youth. Mr. Ishan Menezes delivered Vote of thanks and Ms. Nishal Dsilva - Cultural Secretary of ICYM Moodbidri Deanery compered the inaugural ceremony.

After the inaugural ceremony, Rev. Fr. Ronald Prakash Dsouza conducted the session on “Involvement of Youth in Catholic Society” and Deanery Executive Committee Members conducted a group discussion session. After the session, there was a Holy Eucharistic Mass for the youth by Rev. Fr. Ashwin Lohith Cardoza - Director of ICYM Mangalore Diocese.

In the afternoon, members from Sampige, Taccode, Gantalkatte Unit, and Moodbidri Deanery Executive Committee showcased their talents. Mr. Jaison Crasta, conducted the games for the youth, contributing to a fun-filled and joyful experience for all participants. At the end of the event, Ms. Glany Vinita Colaco expressed her gratitude to all those who contributed and sponsored, helping to make the event a success.

Approximately 130 youth attended the program, which was also graced by the presence of Mr. Elvin Prashanth Dcunha - AmchoYuvak Editor of ICYM Central Council of Mangalore Diocese, and Mr. Arrol Jackson Sequeira - President of Bantwal Deanery.
