Oct 11 : The much-anticipated "Gadyanth Gammath" event took place on October 6, 2024, making history as the first of its kind in Angelore parish. Organized by the Angelore Youth Movement (AYM), the event was not only celebrated with great enthusiasm but was also broadcast live on YouTube, allowing a wider audience to witness the festivities.
The day began with a lively procession, leading participants to the field meticulously prepared by the AYM members. This set the stage for a day of community bonding and friendly competition. The main attraction was the traditional buffalo race, a thrilling spectacle that brought together wards from across the parish, competing ward-wise in an atmosphere of unity and excitement.
The formal program commenced in the presence of our parish priest, Rev. Fr. Frederick Monteiro, and other respected dignitaries. A ceremonial march-past followed, with each ward showcasing traditional farming attire, symbolizing the heritage of hard work and resilience. The welcome speech and addresses from the priest and chief guest further set the tone for the day, emphasizing the importance of community, culture, and tradition.
Once the formalities concluded, the energy soared as the games began. A variety of competitions were organized, ranging from tug of war to relay races, along with individual and couple games designed to engage participants of all ages. The crowd, both at the venue and those tuning in live on YouTube, were thoroughly entertained by the spirited performances.
To ensure everyone stayed energized, breakfast and lunch were served to all participants and spectators, with additional food stalls available for those wanting a little extra. The atmosphere was lively, filled with laughter, cheering, and the aroma of delicious food.
One of the standout moments of the day was the rain dance, which had everyone on their feet, dancing joyfully in the downpour. It was a unifying moment, bringing people together in celebration, regardless of age.
The event concluded with the much-awaited prize distribution ceremony, where the winners of various games were recognized for their efforts. A heartfelt vote of thanks was delivered, expressing deep gratitude to the sponsors, Fr. Frederick Monteiro, Fr. Stany, the church council members, the dedicated AYM team, and, most importantly, the parish community. Their collective support made this event not just possible but an overwhelming success.
"Gadyanth Gammath" was more than just a fun-filled event; it was a testament to the power of community, tradition, and unity. The successful execution of this event, with both live participation and the YouTube audience, set a new benchmark for future parish celebrations.
