July 26 : On July 23, 2023, the ICYM Vamanjoor unit organized "Laudato Si - Plantation Program" in collaboration with the Environment Commission. The event took place at St. Joseph the Worker Church, Vamanjoor, and was held after the morning mass, commencing at 8:30 am in front of the church premises. 

 

The program aimed to promote environmental awareness and encourage responsibility for the environment in the community. Dignitaries present during the occasion included Parish Priest Rev. Fr. James Dsouza, Assistant Priest Rev. Fr. Ivan Ashwin Dsouza, ICYM animator Mr. Charles Pais, Environment Commission Secretary Mr. Sylvester Dsouza, ICYM President Preethika Dsouza, Commission Convener Mr. Stany Cutinha, and All Executive Committees Coordinator Mr. Anil Pinto. 

The event commenced with a warm welcome to the parishioners by the host, Mrs. Shanthi Priya Lasrado. Following the welcome address, Parish Priest Fr. James Dsouza distributed plants to all the Zonal (Ward) leaders as a token of Vanamahotsav, symbolizing the celebration of trees and greenery. The goal of the plant distribution was to inspire people to actively participate in environmental preservation and create a greener, healthier ecosystem. 

 

All the ICYM members and the Environment Commission collaborated seamlessly and actively participated in the planting of around 30 fruit and flower plants in Pilikula. The program concluded successfully at 9:45 am after planting all the designated plants, leaving a positive impact on the environment.
