April 16, 2025 : The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Nirkan unit organized a youth retreat on March 30th at 4:00 PM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Nirkan. Around 20 young people took part in this beautiful evening filled with prayer, reflection, and spiritual growth.

The retreat was led by Rev. Fr Alwyn Dsouza, Director of the Family Life Centre, Mangalore Diocese. His talk inspired the youth to strengthen their faith and grow closer to God.

The retreat began with praise and worship songs, followed by action songs that added joy and energy. The rosary was recited together with devotion. Everyone downloaded the Bible app to follow along with scripture readings, and a reflection on the Word helped everyone understand and connect with the message.

One of the unique moments of the retreat was an activity called “Gut Feelings in Water.” Each person wrote their personal thoughts or struggles on paper and placed them in water — symbolizing letting go and trusting God.

The altar was beautifully arranged, creating a peaceful and prayerful atmosphere. Participants spent time kneeling before the Blessed Sacrament, experiencing a powerful moment of silence and connection with Jesus.

Everyone then received a blessing with holy water, followed by a peaceful time of adoration (Aradhan) in front of the Eucharist. Rev. Fr Leo Lobo, the parish priest, was also present during the retreat, offering his support and prayers, which added grace to the gathering.

As a refreshment, juice was served to all the youth, sponsored by Austin Lobo, bringing the evening to a refreshing and joyful close.
Sweedal Rodrigues warmly welcomed everyone at the start, while Venisha Lasrado delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the retreat.

This retreat was a beautiful opportunity for the youth to reflect deeply, express their inner thoughts, and grow together in faith. It was truly a memorable and meaningful experience for all.
