Sleeves Rolled up, youth get down to clean surroundings and plant Trees
“Let’s stop complaining about our country and do our part well, because we are our country”
Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Central Council, Mangalore Diocese throughout its affiliated units, organized a unique 70 minutes cleaning drive and Vanamahotsava called “Clean and Green Mangaluru” on August 15th 2016 to commemorate the 70th year of existence of ICYM in Mangalore Diocese and the 70th Independence Day.
With the motto “Getting united to step ahead towards a Clean and Green world”, the cleaning program emphasized on creating awareness about cleanliness and the importance of trees to the society.

Many units took the initiative of cleaning their church premises and cemeteries, repairing the potholes on roads, beautifying the surroundings, etc. More than 7000 saplings were planted throughout the diocese. There was a positive response from parishioners of various parishes and the work of the youth was appreciated by all.
ICYM Director of Mangalore Diocese Rev. Fr. Ronald Prakash D’Souza, President of ICYM Central Council Mr. Jackson Eric D’Costa and other ICYM central executive members took the initiative and leadership in making this program a grand success.
