Oct 2, 2016: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), Mangalore Diocese held a bike rally to bring awareness on road safety and to mark the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, from Rosario Cathedral to Jeppu Seminary on Sunday, October 2.
Mangaluru's Chief Traffic Warden Mr. Joe Gonsalves flagged off the rally led by Fr. Ronald Dsouza, Director of ICYM Mangalore Diocese from Rosario Cathedral.

Chief Whip of Karnataka Legislative Assembly Ivan D'Souza who spoke on the occasion stressed on the need of taking care while riding two-wheelers. "Every youth riding two-wheelers should wear helmet. It's the only way to save oneself from severe head injuries. We need to obey traffic rules very strictly. The government is working on bringing heavy traffic rules. If a person violates traffic rules thrice, his license will be cancelled. A computerized driving school will be started in the city were license will be issued on one's performance," said D'Souza. He further said that ICYM members should join the Traffic Warden System and serve.
Earlier, Parish Priest of Rosario Cathedral Fr J B Crasta led prayers. A one-minute silent prayer was offered for the 18 brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Uri attack.
The rally culminated at Olivet house, Jeppu where the inauguration of the 70th Jubilee year of ICYM was held.
