Indian Catholic Youth Movement Valencia Unit celebrated National Youth Sunday on Sunday 5th August 2018 during 8:00 am mass at St Vincent Ferrer church Valencia. The Conference of Catholic Bishops of India ( C.C.B.I ) observed and celebrated National Youth Sunday with the theme Youth, Faith and Vocational Discernment on Sunday 5th August 2018 across India.
To mark this auspicious day, ICYM and YCS members of Valencia Unit celebrated National Youth Sunday by invoking god’s blessings through an Eucharistic celebration. Rev Fr James Dsouza Parish Priest celebrated the Eucharistic celebration and preached a meaningful homily for the youth and to the faithful who gathered for the mass. ICYM and YCS members led the liturgy and choir. They read out the readings, prayers of faithful, thanksgiving prayer and offered offertory to the church as a token of love.
A get together was arranged in the church conference hall for the ICYM and YCS members. The programme began with a prayer. Chief guest Dr Alwyn Dsa, Parish priest Rev Fr James Dsouza, Assistant parish priest Rev Fr Joswin Pinto, Parish pastoral council Vice President Anil Lobo, Secretary Lizzie Pinto were present during the during occasion. The programme was inaugurated by tying friendship bands to each other. Rev Fr James Dsouza spoke on the occasion and motivated the youth.
A session was conducted regarding friendship and dating. Resource person for the session was Dr Alwyn Dsa Professor and Director Admin block St Aloysius College (Autonomous) Mangalore. Games were conducted for the youth by Sandra lobo and Lizzie pinto. Refreshments ( Hotdog and Hot beverages ) were served to the youth. Jasmine Vas YCS Animator compered the programme.
