Feb 9 : “My good friend, God be with you. I am going to heaven. A hearty hug to Fr. Sebastian Gonsalves on my behalf.” - Saint Gonsalo Garcia to a friend on the day of his martyrdom.

St. Gonsalo Garcia, patron of the Indian Catholic Youth Movement, was the first canonized saint from India. Canonized on June 8, 1862 by Pope Pius IX, his feast day is February 6 worldwide and in India his feast is celebrated on February 7.

On the occasion of our patron St Gonsalo Garcia's feast ICYM Central Council, Diocese of Mangalore in collaboration with Infant Jesus Shrine Bikarnakatte organized 'DAIVIK SPARSH' - mass, adoration and prayer especially for the youth of Mangalore Diocese on 7 February 2023 at 6.00pm at Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte.

Fr Nelson Pais, Assistant Administrator, Father Muller Medical College & Hospital was the main celebrant of the mass. In his reflection he asked the youth to be courageous to witness Christ like their patron St Gonsalo Garcia.

After the mass Rev Fr Rovel D'Souza, Shrine Director conducted the adoration and prayed for all the youth.

A memento was handed over to Rev Fr Nelson Pais and Rev Fr Rovel D'Souza by Director Rev Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza, President Mr Anil John Sequeira, and Secretary Nishal Preemal D’Souza.

Rev Fr Ashwin Lohith Cardoza, Mr Anil John Sequeira, Nishal Preemal D’Souza, DEXCO members, council members and other youth were present for this prayer meet.
